There is something
I consider essential
in my high-heel session:
moving slowly.
Whether we are stretching,
exercising, or walking in high heels,
the movements are performed
at a deliberately slow pace.
This is not for elegance or beauty.
When the body moves with
momentum, it becomes difficult
to engage and develop the right
muscles correctly.
Walking slowly may look easy.
In reality,
the opposite is true.
Walking slowly
and exercising slowly
require sufficient muscular
control.
In that sense,
moving slowly is a technique
in itself.
One of my clients,
a pianist, once told me something
that stayed with me.
Her former piano teacher
had taught her the same principle:
if you cannot play a piece
at a very slow tempo,
you will not be able to control
the sound when you play it quickly.
This logic does not belong
only to the world of music
or to the world of high heels.
It is universal.
Those experiencing an
ASAMI-PARIS session for
the first time are often surprised
by how slowly we work.
The reason is simple:
moving slowly is difficult.
But through consistent practice,
the appropriate muscles gradually
develop without forcing the body.
The stretching and exercises
required for walking in high heels
do not require a gym.
With online lessons,
they can be practised at home.
And walking itself
is already part of everyday life.
Even after the lesson ends,
the work can continue
simply by bringing awareness
to the way you move throughout
your day.
The purpose of moving slowly
is not to create elegance.
The purpose is to respect
the structure and mechanics of
the body and to develop
the muscular control that allows
it to function correctly.
Yet something else begins to
happen as a natural consequence.
Elegance emerges.
The breath becomes deeper.
Presence becomes stronger.
These are secondary effects.
They do not need to be
created or pursued.
They arise naturally
when the body begins to work
with greater precision.
And perhaps this is something
worth remembering:
the way we bring ourselves
back into alignment is deeply
connected to the speed at
which we move through
everyday life.
