What Does “Already Within” Really Mean?

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, reflecting the quiet relationship between the inner and outer world

“Already within” does not mean
convincing yourself that you already
have what you desire.

It begins when the security,
freedom, worth, and sense of being
that you once placed in the outside
world are reclaimed within yourself.

At that point,
the structure that required you
to receive them from outside
begins to dissolve.

“Already within” does not mean
that if you create abundance within
yourself, money will appear
in the outside world.

Rather, when the part
of you that was trying to be
fulfilled by the outside world
begins to fade, you can finally
see what you had been asking
the outside world to give you.

You were asking money
for security.

You were asking work
to give you a sense of worth.

You were asking others
for love.

You were asking success
to prove your existence.

You were asking travel
to give you freedom.

As each of these is reclaimed
from the outside world,
the world outside you ceases
to be a means of completing
yourself.

Only then
does money become simply
money, work become
simply work, people become
simply people, and
travel become simply travel.

This is an immense freedom.

It does not deny
the possibility of abundance
appearing in the outside
world.

But neither does it turn
that abundance into proof
of what exists within you.

And then, for the first time,
we move beyond the linear
idea that

“because there is abundance
within, there will be abundance
outside.”

The inner and the outer are
no longer experienced
as two separate realities.

They begin to move
as one movement of life.
